Via Heritage Alliance:

DALLAS, Dec. 8, 2010 – In the first round of an ongoing, informal telephone poll, Heritage Alliance found more than 89 percent of registered Republican primary voters in favor of a more conservative Texas House Speaker to lead next year’s session.

In polling that began one week after the November elections, Heritage Alliance surveyed 8,238 “1R” voters—those who had participated in at least one recent GOP primary— in 43 of 99 GOP-held State House districts. (Voters were not polled in 21 districts where the State Representative had already called for a new State House Speaker.)

When asked, “If you want your State Representative to support a true conservative Republican for House Speaker, instead of a moderate Republican, press 1,” more than 89 percent indicated they wanted a more conservative Speaker.

Michael Smith, Executive Vice President of Heritage Alliance, said his organization called only registered voters because, “to quote pollster Scott Rasmussen, it’s the people who vote who ultimately decide everything.

“These are the voters who show up even for the primaries, when 9 out of 10 registered voters stay home,” Smith added. “They pay attention, and they act. Clearly this matters to them.”

Voters who favored a more-conservative House Speaker were given the URL to Heritage Alliance’s advocacy site (www.txvoice.com) and invited to call or e-mail their State Representative directly. In the case of districts where new Representatives take office in January, respondents had the option of calling or e-mailing their Representative-Elect.

“The 30 new Republicans elected in November called themselves ‘conservative’ throughout their campaigns,” Smith added. “This poll tells us their voters expect them to fulfill that promise.”

As of December 8, Heritage Alliance had polled less than half the 1R voters in 43 State House districts. Polling is expected to continue in these and additional districts for several weeks.

Thanks for the information!

Now how do we get all of those people to call their representatives and tell them that this is the most important vote they will make this session.

How do we get our state reps to vote the way we want them to?

Tat is a very good question once in office they do as they please. We need better candidates one of my reps had no opponent and the other one had a weak opponent and both support Straus

I'm a Tea Party Activist and Independent Conservative Constitutionalist. I support KEN PAXTON for true conservative leadership in the Texas House. Joe Straus is a RINO; his liberal record and Democrat-supporting leadership is proof!! The liberals voted Straus to be Speaker. NO MORE LIBERAL LEADERSHIP! Texans have MANDATED new, TRUE conservative leadership in the Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives. I continue to urge my District Rep., Stefani Carter (R), to break her ties with Straus (who she is supporting). I've even asked her, "Are you going to be fundraising for Democrats as Joe Straus did once you begin serving your term in office?"!! OUST STRAUS!! And someone PLEASE help us wake up Stefani Carter. I suspect Straus has bought her off and/or promised her future political favors if she casts her vote for him.

When a country (Texas having been its own country at one time) starts out promising the freedom to live your life as you choose, have the liberty to act unencumbered by liberty stifling laws, and the opportunity to pursue happiness to your heart's desire and evolves into a cumbersome behemoth of agencies, laws, and regulations that choke each member of the sovereign community, it's time to trim the tree and return to the conservatism that it is rooted in.

This Strauss has a few buddies that are fighting for his Speaker position...I hope to hear the names of these Rep. so we can get rid of these freaks. Texans are truly conservatives, these others should move to Ill. they would fit right in with the hoodlums.

I would suggest a campaign of letters to Leo Berman, asking that he publish a list of all reps that support J. Straus. It should be public knowledge and 'my goodness' WHY would folks that support Straus mind if their name is made public.

All reps that support J.Straus should be published in a public list so that all conservative Texans can see exactly who we must replace in the next election. Contact YOUR rep and ask for the list of RINOs supporting Straus.

You are so right Dan. Leo Berman is awesome! He is a role model for what we wish all our Reps would be. He has introduced some very important legislation for this session of the Texas House. He has courage and understands We the People.

Dianne Patrick, are you listening? One thing is for sure. We will work to defeat you if you vote for Straus.

I support Ken Paxton for speaker of the Texas House of Representatives. I wish these cowards that support Stauss come out and say so. They say "I'm not sure at this point". They hide. Be sure that we are watching the results.

We were talking to our newly elected state representative this weekend regarding the Straus thing. Because Straus had supported her election against her democrat opponent our representative had promised to support him for the new speakership. We have been encouraging her to change her commitment and support Paxton. She says she doesn't have a problem doing that if the other GOP representatives (mostly incumbents) do the same. We believe that she fears that if she bolts from Straus and he ultimately gains the speakership, she will be punished by him for her disloyalty.

This makes sense to us, so I have a suggestion. It seems the Tea Party should be hammering all the GOP representatives directly (showing the popular support for anyone other than Straus in their respective districts). It appears there is going to be a GOP caucus to decide this next month, and we would like to see each of these GOP representatives pressured to unanimously reject Straus. This is the only way

So Straus won. Ya think soros'money got the job done? Him and the rest of the commies want to turn Texas "Blue". Who else would "fix" it for that POS Straus?
